The Black Community Solidarity Fund has been created to increase sustainability of youth focused and community care projects of the African Community Wellness Initiative (ACWI) and other Black-led organizations.

The Black Community Solidarity Fund began as a community mobilization action initiated by ACWI as part of our local leadership and involvement in the Black Lives Matter - Waterloo Region movement. The initial campaign raised funds for local initiatives and inspired the creation of an ongoing fund. Our hope is that this fund will sustain local initiatives that provide engagement, recreational and educational programming for Black children and youth.

Funds will help us connect Black youth and Black families to community gardening spaces and green collar job opportunities, through programs like Young City Growers and the Multicultural Community Gardens Project. Through this fund we also support vital mental health and social support services for Black communities including Afrocentric Counselling Services that will connect Black practitioners to those seeking services as well as Decarceration and Reintegration services for community members impacted by the criminal justice system.
