Learning Journeys

Since we introduced them 3 years ago, Learning Journeys have become a regular part of our granting process. They provide educational opportunities for our granting committee members and our Fundholders, while allowing our charitable partners to showcase projects and programs that have received funding through our grant streams. It's a chance to experience impact first hand.

Over the summer, staff arranged Learning Journeys at several charitable organizations that received funding from our Spring Community Grants and Kids to Camp grant streams, including those featured in the images below:

KidsAbility - iCan Bike
Laurier - Mama Aki: Mother Earth Science Camp
Laurier - Mama Aki: Mother Earth Science Camp
Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement - Fish Tank Summer Camp
Extend-A-Family - Summer Program
You can read a story about Laurier’s Mama Aki: Mother Earth Science Camp, the site of one of these recent visits, on our website.

We will continue to look for learning opportunities for 2019 and 2020. If you are interested in learning more about our Learning Journeys, email Sarah at

Perfect Pitch 2019

Are you ready to hear the next great idea for social good in Waterloo Region – and help it happen?

Here’s your chance to attend Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region’s Perfect Pitch. On November 5, seven charities have 3 minutes each to pitch a project or service that helps our community thrive. At the end of the night, vote for the pitch of your choice; all proceeds from your ticket will help make their pitch a reality.
