Charitable organizations can set up an endowment fund as a way to ensure a consistent stream of income that can fund work in the community forever. The income stream becomes a permanent source of funding for your organization that you can count on year after year.
By establishing a Charitable Organization Endowment Fund at Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation, you benefit from the substantial experience and knowledge of our staff members. They can offer advice and guidance on everything from what financial tools can be used to set up the endowment, to ideas for marketing your endowment.
We provide a number of services so your organization’s staff and volunteers can be focused on delivering your important work in the community:
KWCF’s economies of scale provide your organization with the benefits of a diverse investment portfolio and low investment fees that typically come only with very large funds
We handle all of the financial administrative details. This includes processing donations to your fund and issuing tax receipts
Offer advice on gifts of securities and planned gifts
Administration of estate gifts to your endowment
Your fund is listed on www.kwcf.ca and through Canada Helps. Online donations to your fund can be accepted through Canada Helps and they provide receipts directly to your donors
Your organization receives annual statements on your fund, including who has donated to your fund (unless they have asked to remain anonymous)
Disburse the income of the fund annually back to your charitable organization for you to determine how to use
Provide marketing support to assist with the establishment and growing of your fund. We would be prepared to feature your organization's fund and the work you do in various communication channels operated by KWCF
