What are Community Grants?
Community Grants will be distributed in the Spring and the Fall to support a wide range of projects in the areas of affordable housing, healthy children and youth, and/or social inclusion.
What organizations can apply to a Community Grant?
Registered Charitable Organizations or qualified donees under CRA guidelines that reside in and serve the citizens of Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding communities.
Our Spring Community Grant Program includes all three granting levels outlined below. Our Fall Community Grant Program includes level 1 and level 2 grant streams outlined below:
As your funding request increases, so will the amount of information collected in our applications – unless you have received funding in the past two years. In those instances, we will work with you to understand the information we already have on file and may be able to reduce the information you need to provide.
You may submit up to two applications in our Spring intake, with no more than one at the highest level. For our Fall intake, you may only submit one application. We will do our financial review once the pre-screen closes. From there, projects with a greater chance of approval through our Grants Committees will be invited to fill out a full application for review and potential approval through our Grants Committee comprised of volunteers from across the community.
Unsuccessful applicants in the Spring intake or applications that only received funding through Donor Advised Funds may request to push their application forward to the Fall Community Grants. If the application was submitted for level 3 funding, adjustments need to be made to reflect the new request, adjusted budget, and the deliverables.
