INVESTING

The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation (The KWCF) helps make a lasting difference in our community.

The KWCF is a charity for charities. Although we don't provide charitable services, we do help community organizations make a difference by providing them with funds for new programs, capital needs, student awards and much more.

When you make a donation or gift to KWCF, we invest that gift into a permanent endowment fund - reserved trusts. Your original gift is not spent. It generates income that is then distributed through grants to support a wide range of charitable causes within our community. It is through these grants that we help you make that lasting difference.

HOW WE INVEST IN OUR COMMUNITY

We leverage investments of dollars, knowledge, and relationships to support innovative projects and initiatives that help our community.

The KWCF has the local expertise to understand community challenges and know how to address them. We are a local organization staffed by members of our community and led by a local Board of Directors.

This group of people has an in-depth knowledge of the issues, opportunities and resources that shape our community. This enables them to play a key role in solving community problems, while helping donors learn more about local needs in order to make their giving as effective as possible.WRVS Infographic.png

MAKING SMART INVESTMENTS

The community foundation monitors community needs in the 11 key areas of Waterloo Region's Vital Signs including: Arts & Culture, Belonging & Leadership, Environment, the Gap Between the Rich and Poor, Getting Around, Getting Started, Health & Wellness, Housing, Learning, Safety, Work and Economic Indicators.

We gather information and track the many local agencies and programs working for our community. Based on this information, we can make grants and direct resources to the most appropriate areas. We stay alert to emerging issues and foster giving and volunteerism in our community, often serving as a catalyst, bringing groups of people together to work on solutions to community problems.
