Applying for Grants from the Community Fund
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!
Grant Deadline: Wednesday, September 15th at 4 p.m.
Registered charitable organizations in the Kitchener and Waterloo area are invited to apply to grants twice each year (Spring and Fall). Foundation grants support health, education, environment, social services and cultural activities. Applicants to the Community Fund will be limited to two application requests per funding cycle.
The KWCF's Grants Committee has the specific responsibility of making recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding funding to registered charitable organizations for a variety of initiatives including:
- Capital expenditures of any sort. Examples might include, but are not restricted to: the construction of new buildings, renovations to existing buildings, and other infrastructure to strengthen the capacity of the organization and its mission. Office equipment and computers will be considered but must be essential to the on-going operation (i.e. program delivery) of the applicant.
- Start-up operating costs for embryo organizations meeting new or emerging needs or opportunities, as well as costs for new initiatives by existing organizations who demonstrate sustainability.
- One-time events that have the potential to result in significant community building.
- Short-term funding which may become the determining factor in the continuation of a worthwhile charitable organization or help organizations become sustainable through collaboration with other charities with similar goals.
We have special interest in receiving applications in the areas of arts & culture, health and wellness, gap between rich and poor and getting a good start - in Canada and in life. Check out the Waterloo Region Vital Signs® for more information on these areas at www.wrvitalsigns.ca.
