About The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation

The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation (KWCF) helps make a lasting difference in our community.

The KWCF is a charity for charities. Although we don't provide charitable services, we do help community organizations make a difference by providing them with funds for new programs, capital needs, student awards and much more.

When you make a donation or gift to The KWCF, we invest that gift into a permanent endowment fund - reserved trusts. Your original gift is not spent. It generates income that is then distributed through grants to support a wide range of charitable causes within our community. It is through these grants that we help you make that lasting difference.

The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation improves the quality of life in Kitchener-Waterloo and area, now and for generations to come, by building community endowment, addressing needs through grant making, and providing leadership on key community issues.

What is a Community Foundation?

In the simplest terms, community foundations are charitable organizations dedicated to improving communities in specific geographical areas. They do this by pooling the charitable gifts of donors to create endowment funds and using the investment income to make grants.

The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation is a proud member of Community Foundations of Canada - the national membership organization for the 171 community foundations across Canada.
